CHI’s Heritage Watch Committee monitors sites at risk of demolition, conducts research, and recommends properties for inclusion in the City’s Inventory of Evaluated Historic Resources. A Policy Watch Committee looks at relevant municipal, provincial and federal planning and legislation. Both committees engage with key stakeholders to pursue opportunities to ensure that our built heritage is preserved. CHI members are invited to attend monthly sub-committee meetings to share information and publicize developments that threaten or conserve heritage, thereby promoting the idea of preservation. This may involve working with developers, businesses, architects, planners, City Councillors, and communities to discover possible solutions. Members are also encouraged to follow our Facebook page, suggest posts, comment and respond when a call to action is announced.
