There are many aspects of the draft Beltline Area Redevelopment Plan that affect heritage in the historic Beltline neighbourhoods of Connaught and Victoria Park. After two trips to Calgary Planning Commission and some revisions, it was passed by City Council on May 15. A representative of the Calgary Heritage Initiative was there to speak in general support of the plan.
The draft Beltline ARP was first reviewed by CPC on December 15, 2005, two weeks after an open house on November 30. The reception was generally positive, but it was sent back to Administration for more work on several areas, in particular the density bonusing scheme, and issues raised in a number of letters from stakeholders, including correspondence from CHI (see the next post). Administration was scheduled to bring a revised plan to CPC on February 23. They delivered an interim report and the draft came back to CPC on March 23. The draft was endorsed by CPC, and sent on to Council which passed it with revisions on May 15.
