The next heritage roundtable in the popular series looks at historic site inventories recently piloted by community associations in Parkdale and Cliff Bungalow-Mission. These communities were able to access grants and expertise to help them identify, celebrate and better protect the heritage and character of their neighbourhoods. They are now proceeding with plaque programs and other projects. Representatives from the Municipal Heritage Partnership Program, which helped to support this initiative, will be on hand.
There will also be the much-anticipated premiere of the City of Calgary’s new heritage website (Discover Historic Calgary). This new resource has information on hundreds of historic buildings all over Calgary and promises to be of great value to heritage advocates, community volunteers, students and teachers and the general public. Also hear about City’s new heritage evaluation system, the upcoming Lion Awards, Jane’s Walk, updates on the Calgary Brewery and other matters.
You won't want to miss the information, ideas and networking. These events are always lots of fun. Refreshments provided.
January 28, doors at 6:30, event starts a 7 pm at the historic Memorial Park library, 12th Avenue and 2nd Street SW.
