City of Calgary PSA: Reader Rock Garden Café Re-opens
October 24, 2011 01:56 PM
The café at Reader Rock Garden has re-opened with a new restaurant vendor. The café is located in the reconstructed Reader house, at 325 25 Ave. S.E. It fills the main floor of the house with approximately 40 seats, plus 15 more on the veranda.
The café also offers catering and is available for private functions. Katherine Moore is the café’s new owner and she is excited about the re-opening, “Whether Calgarians choose to stop by and enjoy a light lunch or book a function here, enjoying time with friends, family or co-workers at the Gardens is the perfect way to relax, sit back and enjoy this unique, picturesque setting.” To view the catering menu, visit the restaurant page on the Friends of Reader Rock Garden Society site.

Parking is available at the bottom of Reader Rock Garden and the gardens are also easily accessible from the Erlton C-train Station.
Reader’s Garden Café is open to the public from now until Sunday, November 13, and will be closed to the general public until April 2012, when it will re-open for the spring/summer season. Bookings for special functions such as Christmas parties are being accepted from now through mid April 2012. To make a reservation or book a private function, contact Reader's Garden Café at 403-263-0210.
The café and gardens are named after Calgary’s third Parks superintendent from 1913 – 1942. During this time, William Roland Reader transformed a bare hillside into an internationally acclaimed garden.
