Parents in a northeast Calgary community are gearing up to fight to keep open their school's regular English program- and perhaps the entire facility.
The Calgary Board of Education is holding a public meeting for parents today to discuss trustees' recent move to consider the closure of the kindergarten to Grade 6 regular English program at Mayland Heights Elementary.
On Sunday, a public board official said while there are no plans to relocate the school's remaining French immersion students, if the opportunity arose, the school closure would be considered.
The discussions come as the public school considers shuttering two other schools in Calgary, due to dropping enrolment.
Montgomery School and Sir James Lougheed School are both being considered for closure next year...
