Check out this Youtube clip of the 1961 Calgary Loop Rally. Cars start in Motel Village at the Cavalier Motor Hotel, now the North Travelodge. The cars peel out past Phil's (still there) heading west on the Trans Canada to Banff. Motel Village was the end of town - check out the new McMahon Stadium in the background at 2:15...

Just posted on the City of Calgary's Youtube channel, a 1962 film from the Calgary Tourist and Convention Bureau: Calgary, The Living West. Have a look through and try to identify places from today and yesterday. Post your finds here, or on the City's Youtube page!

Another retro Calgary video, looks like the late 1950s (lack of Elveden Centre being one clue). Includes the skyline from Crescent Road, Alyth/stockyards area, and Calgary Brewery gardens among other things....
