ALBERTA ASSOCIATION of the CANADIAN INSTITUTE OF PLANNERS, CALGARY EVENTS COMMITTEE PRESENTS:

PARKS & THE HISTORY OF TOWN PLANNING IN CALGARY - John Gilpin

Wednesday June 16, 2010 Join historian and author John Gilpin for a presentation on the historical relationship between the development of Calgary's parks and open space system and town planning in Calgary. Between 1909 and 1914 the Parks Board and the Town Planning Commission were created; the culmination of these efforts was the ambitious “city beautiful” Mawson Plan of 1914. The on-going relevance of the Mawson Plan through to the present day will be discussed.
