AWA is turning 50 and they are buying their home!

The Alberta Wilderness Association has been stewards of the Hillhurst Cottage School for almost 40 years and they have made a deal with the City of Calgary to purchase the building. This historic building and AWA’s offices are a centre for conservation awareness. This is an invitation to save the date June 25th, 2015 between 3pm and 8pm to come for a walk through the Hillhurst Cottage School, peruse AWA’s Roger Creasey Memorial Library, soak up the historic details and 1910 architecture of the cottage school, meet old friends and new and raise a cup of cheer for the achievements of AWA’s 50 years of endeavour and conservation in Alberta. What a wonderful tribute and legacy this purchase will mean for AWA and for the importance of saving historic properties as AWA takes time to reflect and celebrate 50 years as an Association. The Cottage School is at 455-12th St NW.

Donations are still being taken to assist with the purchase at https://gowildalberta.ca/shop/building- ... -donation/
